THE CONCEPT

JESUS GRAPHIC

For this project I really wanted to depict religion with an whole other light. For hundreds of years the cross has been a symbol, in more recent times symbols have lost their meaning being overused and dulled out to mere shapes and structures. ✝️

SPIKES & TRIBALS

The nails represent the nails from Jesus his crucifixion, their an integral part of the story according to the bible. The spikey tribals could be interpreted as a visualisation of suffering and pain. This however cannot be further from the truth. As for me they represent something like rose thorns, and life. Something sharp yet beautiful and everflowing into itself.

FIREARMS

Besides crosses and religion, another ‘symbol’ which seems to lose its meaning more and more every year is firearms. Something that used to be solely tied to cinema and war has become an internet status-symbol. Often found in rap clips and on insta-stories.

This piece tries to create conversation and discussion amongst people by trying to put these two different yet ever so similar symbols under the same loop. Questioning what truly has meaning in our new digital age where everything can be shared, seen and found hundredfold.
