TY-EE DE HOOGH

EVIL-SPIRIT TEE

first drop under my own brand name.

THE SKETCH

It all started off as a drawing, I was doodling a lot during my math classes in my first year and developed this character. Inspired by skulls, bats and wolfs its a mixture of all three’s features.

As soon as I finished this drawing I knew that I wanted to put it onto a fabric.

THE MOCKUP

A month later I switched classes from the regular schoolsystem to a new experimental form developed within our school.

Ä6 is a new form of education, letting students with extraordinairy intrests learn on their own pace letting them pick their own projects.

This newfound freedom had given me the time to work on my own clothing line and I started by making this digital mockup.

After reading a few articles about organic cotton blanks and consulting a few infield professionals I decided to buy blanks from Stanley&Stella, a UK based blanks producer that works slavery free and with recycled and organic cotton materials.

THE TAGS

Another depiction of the wolf character can be found on the tags, located on the bottom of the Tee. They have a front and backside, the latter can only be seen if the shirt is turned inside out. See it as a little easteregg. ;)

The woven labels were produced by Dutchlabelshop in the Netherlands.

THE PRINT

I arranged a compromise with a local printing company where I could print my design using recycled plastic. At a reduced price if I printed the shirts myself.

THE PRESSING

20 pieces were printed and pressed by myself using heatpressed

The labels were later sewn in at a classmates house since we didn't have a sewing machine at school back then.

THE SHOOT

eI remembered an acquantance that had some experience with modeling and quickly contacted them. With the help of my fellow classmate Johnny I went location scouting and ended up somewhere underground in Tilburg.

We shot some above ground with natural lighting aswell.

The pictures were colorgraded and edited by me.

Pictures were taken by my good friend @wasdevaat

THE OPPORTUNITY

Due to the unique way Ä6 approaches education our class was invited onto the DutchDesignWeek-2022 for a showcase of their students work.

I set up a shop with my shirts and a sitting area. Friends, strangers, designers and family came by.

I sold out in about 4 days.
